Trip to TITLIS, Central Switzerland
Peter Montbach, René Gsell, Raphael Schwegler, Simon Gsell, Martin Sikovski
Goodbye visit to Switzerland
The fact that you made the effort to come to Switzerland for your “last” working day to say “goodbye” reflects our close partnership. We really appreciate all that you have done. It will be a day to remember for all of us!
On the way up to Titlis, strong winds gave our cable car cabin some strong shakes and swings, holding us back from reaching the summit. You were as cool as a cucumber and kept us all calm. Following a traditional Swiss Älplermacronen-Lunch, we were happy to show you the latest machinery in Muri. It was great that you could shake hands with the whole Gsell team. A peaceful and relaxing farewell dinner in Lucerne followed, giving us all the chance to reflect together on so many memorable moments.
We would like to take the chance to ask you a few questions:
Before you joined us at Gsell you worked in the automotive industry. What do you see as the biggest differences between Medical Devices and Automotive?
In my opinion the biggest difference between Automotive and Medical has been in two areas: First, there is a greater emphasis on quality particularly in the onboarding and monitoring of new vendors. The second is that there is much less emphasis in Medical on Supply chain timing. Automotive is focused on every fraction of a cent (rappen) and requires 24/7 availability as their factories are operating on that basis.
What is Gsell’s unique recipe for the great success that we’ve seen in the US?
Gsell’s success in the U.S. has been based on its offering technical expertise that is difficult to find in the medtech supplier base in the U.S. In addition, Gsell’s culture of responsiveness and attention to detail sets it apart from the average domestic supplier. An extremely strong quality system at Gsell is another difference maker.
What do customers value most about Gsell? Our Services? Our Values?
Speaking for Gsell’s U.S. customers, the culture of excellence in all areas and the dependability of both quality and performance commitments are valued extremely highly by our customers.
Looking back, what was your most memorable moment during your time with us at Gsell?
My most memorable time(s) with Gsell have occurred during visits to Switzerland and the way that Gsell included me, as an independent contractor, in social activities. In particular, trips to the mountains and experiencing Swiss culture stand out.
What hopes and dreams do you have for your retirement?
My hopes for retirement are to spend time with my family and to travel for pleasure rather than business! I also plan to be involved in volunteer activities to improve the quality of life in the U.S.
What top tips would you have for a new employee that’s joining our company?
My suggestions for any new employees would be join in the team culture at Gsell and to share the outlook that doing your job well benefits the health and well-being of people around the world as well as offering an interesting career to yourself.
Thank you very much, Peter, for taking the time to answer our questions.
Farewell dinner in Lucerne
Last but not least, once again, we say a big “thank you!” We are now happy to welcome you into Gsell’s pensioners club! We are looking forward to seeing you again for our 40th anniversary celebration in October. Keep in touch!
